Victorian ISSF State Titles
By Craig Henwood
This years Victorian ISSF Titles were again held at Melbourne Gun Club from Friday 23rd of November until Sunday the 25th of November.
The weather, to steal a quote from a rival state, was “beautiful one day, perfect the next” with temperatures between the mid to high 20’s. Decent rainfall in the week prior to the shoot had given all the surroundings a tinge of green making target visibility excellent.
Numbers for the competition were respectable with the Titles falling this year in the middle of a busy ISSF Calender.
STATE DOUBLE TRAP 75 Pair + Final
The Double Trap event was held on Friday the 23rd of November with 3 squads nominating.
Going into the last round Craig Trembath 45, 47 held a 1 tgt lead from Russell Mark 46, 45 with Nathan Cassells back from a break from ISSF Shooting and Nick Kirley right up their tail ensured an exciting last round.
The last round saw Craig Trembath shoot another 47 to lead into the final on 139. Russell Mark was next to qualify with 135. Nathan Cassells 133. A nice 48 in the last round from Blair Signorotto put him next on 133. Nick Kirley 131 and Marc Crimmins 121 completed the top 6.
Another 47 in the final was more then enough for Craig Trembath to hold on and become the 2007 State ISSF Double Trap Champion with an excellent score of 186/200.
State Shoulder to Shoulder team to represent Victoria at the 2008 ISSF National Titles in Perth is Craig Trembath, Russell Mark and Blair Signorotto.

STATE ISSF SKEET 150 Tgt + Final
Held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of November the ISSF Skeet event attracted only 8 competitors. Although numbers were down competition was still fierce and the event went right down to the wire.
After 150 Targets James Bolding lead into the final with 142/150. Behind him was Anthony Sottosanti on 141 with Zita Dettori 139 and David Cunningham on 136 right on their tails.
A perfect clean round in the final by Anthony Sottosanti was needed for him to become State Champion and he did just that finishing on 166/175 showing that if not already he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
David Cunningham won AA grade with 136 but struggled all weekend being short of shells, apparently a certain Double Trap Shooter had “borrowed” 4 packets from a previous competition and still hadn’t repaid him!!!. A grade with a score of 142 was James Bolding. A grade 2nd was Zita Dettori with 139.
State Shoulder to Shoulder Team for Perth is Anthony Sottosanti, James Bolding and David Cunningham.
Hopefully next year we will see a few more Skeeties!!!!

So ended a great weekend of ISSF Shooting, with excellent scores being shot in all disciplines. A huge thank you to the long list of helpers who worked through out the carnival to ensure everything all ran smoothly and the shoot finishing with plenty of time for our interstate travellers to get to the airport on time for their respective flights.
Congratulations to all who were successful in making shoulder to shoulder teams, I am sure you will represent Victoria with pride and we wish you all the best in Perth in 2008.
